Wyatt T. Waters II, was born in Dover, Delaware, and raised across various cities in the United States, including Newport News, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Memphis, Tennessee; Mississippi; and Houston, Texas. The son of a Navy serviceman and a mother who worked predominantly in the housekeeping industry, Wyatt experienced the challenges of a divided family early in life. His parents’ divorce left Wyatt and his sister frequently without their father’s presence and limited time with their mother due to her demanding work schedule. Despite these difficulties, his mother and grandparents ensured that faith remained a central part of their lives.
By the age of 15, Wyatt found himself increasingly influenced by his environment, leading to multiple arrests and school suspensions. Nonetheless, he managed to graduate from high school in Memphis, Tennessee. Following an attempt on his life, his church community helped relocate him to Houston, Texas, in hopes of providing a fresh start. However, despite the change in surroundings, Wyatt soon found himself falling back into old habits and the harsh lifestyle he sought to escape.
Wyatt’s life took a pivotal turn when an Army recruiter, recognizing his potential, took a personal interest in his well-being. This recruiter went beyond the call of duty, spending extra time with Wyatt and encouraging him to abandon the destructive behaviors that threatened his future. Heeding this advice, Wyatt enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2006 as a culinary artist.
Seventeen years later, Wyatt is now a husband and father of three. He serves as a financial analyst for the U.S. Army, while also dedicating himself to his roles as a church minister and mentor to young men. Residing in Los Angeles, California, Wyatt is working towards his second college degree. His life and work are guided by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”
