The Cost of RAA Travel Basketball

In Season Expenses:

The ‘formal cost of travel basketball is in the neighborhood of $400. This is collected as a Registration Fee, due at registration, and a Travel Fee, collected once teams are formed. There are also additional costs a family will bear during the course of the season.

Players in their first year of participation will need to purchase gear.

  • Uniform: generally a one-time expense. Most players keep their uniform through their entire travel career.
  • Warm-up Jersey: an optional purchase, but for various reasons most families purchase one.
  • Sports Bag: to cart their gear to and from tournaments; provided by RAA at no cost.

The one-time cost of outfitting your player runs on the order of $85.

Boys Travel and the Girls Travel programs each have an overnight travel tournament on their schedule. Families have been able to economize by sharing hotel rooms, and some have even preferred to travel home overnight. Staying at a preferred hotel will likely run between $200 and $500 depending upon the size of your party and the type of room chosen.

During the season, the host association of each tournament charges admission into their tournament. It is a daily charge of about $5 for adults and $3 for children. If you add up all the admission charges that a family pays during the course of the season, this ‘hidden cost can add up to around $200.
